Homemade Antioxidant Hydrating Serum

A very concentrated blend of powerful Herbal Extracts,
full of antioxidants protecting skin cells from oxidation and fighting free radicals. This Facial Serum is helping to fight inflammation, calm and soothe irritated skin.

I have been using this since early February together with my Exotic Oils based Serum. I apply this after a Toner (I am using now Orange Flower Hydrosol as a Toner) before the Oil Phase. And my skin is noticeably smoother and softer... I just wanted to share the recipes, because I really like these

The main elements of my Exotic Oils based Serum. are rich, nourishing oils: Black Currant Seed Oil, Rose Hip Seed Oil, Red Raspberry Seed Oil - 60%; Sandalwood and Carrot Seed EO have super anti-aging effect; regenerating Herbal Infusions in Olive or Soybean Oils - 25%; moisturizing oils - 15%, and a few drops of vitamin E which is a powerful antioxidant...

The main purpose of my Antioxidant Hydrating Serum is to moisturize skin, to tighten pores, to fight inflammation and free radicals damage.. I've chosen Rose Water and Rose Petal Alc. Extract because I find those soothing and calming my skin. As for the other extracts, I use Plantain Leaf and Fennel Seed Extracts for theirs antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, and Green Tea Extract for its antioxidant effect...

To learn more about how to DIY - Homemade Herbal Extracts: Alcohol Based Extracts, and how I've made my first Herbal Extracts, please click on the links...The Alcohol-based Extracts that I am using in this mixture I've made by using 80 proof (or 40%) Vodka as a solvent. The Fennel Seed Extract was made by using a blend of Vodka and Glycerin (1:5)...

Making Homemade Herbal Extracts: Directions:
Fill a glass bottle (60ml) with the dryed Herbs, add Vodka (or a blend of Vodka and Glycerin) to cover the herbs (about 50ml), shake it well. After three weeks filter it, and use it.

The Recipe of my Homemade Antioxidant Hydrating Serum:Ingredients:

Rose Water (hydrating, refreshing, soothing, calming) 44% 7ml
Aloe Vera Gel  (regenerating, soothing) 44% 7ml
Plantain Leaf Alc. Extract (antiseptic, anti-inflammatory 3% 0.5ml
Rose Petal Alc. Extract (antioxidant) 3% 0.5ml
Green Tea Alc. Extract (antioxidant) 3% 0.5ml
Fennel Seed Alc. Glycerin (1:5) Extract  (antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, containing Glycerin - Humectant) 3% 0.5ml

Cosmocil CQ (gentle, used in baby wipes and contact lens solutions, paraben free preservative) 0.6% 2 drops
Citric Acid (lower pH)  a few tiny granules (3-5),  0 less than 0.01 gram

Mix all the ingredients in a sterilized bottle, stir well, add a preservative and citric acid, stir again.
That's all...
Apply a few drops of this Hydrating Serum on your face and neck after the cleansing routine and before the Oil based Serum or a Lotion kind Moisturizer...

Shelf Life:
This amount is enough only for one week, using two times a day... If you are willing to keep the mixture in the refrigerator for one week you can skip a preservative step... And please use a dropper or a treatment pump container, it will keep your mixture safe from oxidation and contamination.

Enjoy :)
I hope you also find something that works for you...
