Homemade Facial Treatments

A lotion based moisturizer isn't an option for me, so I wanted to make a simple Facial Gel using more hydrating ingredients - a combination of Glycerin and Sodium Lactate in a higher level than I used to add. Some Alcohol based Herbal and Kelp Extracts with antioxidant and whitening properties (to learn how I've made them, please check out this post DIY - Homemade Herbal Extracts: Alcohol Based Extracts). The combination of Guar and Xanthan Gums as a Thickening Agents and Liquid Germall Plus as a Preservative.
Recently I decided to reformulate my cleansing recipes a bit. And since I was very pleased with the finishing result, I am going to share the new ones and my updated Facial Cleansing Routine: Deep Cleansing Oil to remove make up, Rose Hip Eye Makeup Remover, super simple Daily Lip Scrub and my Daily Facial Exfoliating Mask...
In this post I wanted to share my current Facial Skincare Regime that might help you guys have better skin.
Hope this will help! Take care :)
P.S. My skin is Combination/ Oily Acne-Prone and I keep this routine almost a month. Like it so much....Stopped using Facial Lotions more than 6 months before I keep my acne problem under control - no more pimples during PMS! I I guess, my skin does not like lotions...
I know many women with beautiful skin (like my mom) washing/moisturizing the skin with water alone. Is that enough? Most likely not.. The following simple methods and procedures are helping me to keep my skin looking young, making me feel better; giving more confidence. I am going to share my tips on some of MY FACIAL SKIN CARE ESSENTIALS ...
Last week I have been playing around with some ingredients trying to make a Hydrating Gel based on some things I have been reading recently. I made it and I like it. It sank in really nicely, my skin feels like silk and I don't need an additional moisturizer (lotion kind) at all! This light Serum Gel for as my morning Facial Moisturizer and my Exotic Oils Serum over a Serum Gel for the night, that's all I need now :) Homemade Hydrating Antioxidant Rosemary Serum Gel! A Gel agent I used is a Cellulose Gum, I usually use it at 2-3%. It works great in conjunction with other ingredients (Hydrosols, water soluble Extracts, Humectants, etc...) to increase moisture and leaves your skin silky soft... A Water Phase contains a blend of soothing, healing Hydrosols, Alcohol and Glycerin based Herbal Extracts, Sodium Lactate and Aloe Vera Gel. ...
I have acne-prone combination skin and I need purifying masks at least twice a week. Since December last year I was using a simple mask on the basis of grounded Wheat Germs mixing with Lemon Juice and it was perfect for my skin, but a little boring! Before two weeks I decided to try something new and come up with my version of Lush Inspires Cupcake Purifying Facial Mask with Rhassoul Clay...
A weekly Facial Mask is an essential step in my skin care regime. Usually used twice a week, Facial Mask is cleansing, lightening and exfoliating the skin, cleansing and tightening pores. During last month I've tried my Lush Inspired - Homemade Cupcake Purifying Facial Mask and I have to say this is a very a very good exfoliating mask. I've made several versions of this mask with Olive Oil, Rice Bran Oil, and Cocoa Butter and without Oils, and the last one I liked more.
157600324 This Exotic Oil Blend, rich in essential fatty acids and added Vitamins E, D and A, Sandalwood and Carrot Seed Essential Oils, is helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and to prevent premature aging of the skin, giving an intensive moisture boost to sun damaged skin, nourishing, lifting and firming the skin. It is paraben free, water free, naturally fragranced and suitable for my sensetive skin...
A very concentrated blend of powerful Herbal Extracts, full of antioxidants protecting skin cells from oxidation and fighting free radicals. This Serum is helping to fight inflammation, calm and soothe irritated skin. I have been using this since early February together with my Exotic Oils based Serum. I apply this after a Toner (I am using now an Orange Flower Hydrosol as a Toner) before the Oil Phase. And my skin is noticeably smoother and softer... I just wanted to share the recipes, because I really like these mixtures...

Unfortunately, there is really no permanent remedy for open pores. An Astringent Toner tighten pores, but this is only temporary. Toners are supposed to remove excess oil and cleanse the pores, help to balance the skins natural pH level and to restore the skins natural moisture. So it is very important to apply toner regularly after cleansing face...
When it is inconvenient to brush the teeth, try to rinse your mouth with a Homemade Natural Mouthwash! It is a simple, effective, homemade alternative to the expensive mouthwashes, and you can find all the ingredients in your kitchen... Alcohol based Clove Extract is my main ingredient here... Clove has specific properties that make it an ideal choice for mouthwashes and other oral treatments. Clove oral remedies are very popular now, because of its powerful antiseptic and mild anaesthetic actions.
The main ingredient of this Toner is Apple Cider Vinegar contains acetic acid. The relatively low concentration of acetic acid has keratolytic (AHA like) and exfoliating effect on the skin. Most cleansers have a higher pH than the skin, and AVC Toner helps lower pH to neutralize the alkaline Cleanser. I’ve been using low concentrations of AVC in my Toner, not above 7%. I’ve started with 3% of 5% Apple Cider Vinegar in summertime, and have increased it to 7% in winter...
The main purpose of the facial toner is to remove all traces of cleanser and to restore a original pH. This combination of effective hydrosols is toning, calming, hydrating and reviving stressed skin....
If you are looking for a natural way to get treatment for wrinkles, you've come to the right place. During winter months, our lips loose theirs moisture and becomes more and more rough, chappy and dry. Though winters here (in Israel) aren't really winters, my lips tend to get dried out and chapped, and this Brown Sugar Lip Scrub not only helps to prevent chapping, it also makes the lips silky smooth and soft... Homemade Body Care

My skin is really sensitive and itchy when the weather gets cold and dry. For some reason I have always hated the feel of lotion on my skin, I do not use it on my face and I do not use it on my body, so the idea of an anhydrous (contain no water) lotion bars really appeals to me. A while ago I've posted the recipe of my version of Lush Therapy Bar
, today I want to present another Lush Inspired product: Homemade Lush Inspired Each Peach (and Two's a Pair) Massage Bar...
I like Bath Salts... Warm bath with Aromatic Bath Salts is great for softening, calming and soothing the skin, it help relax tired muscles and relieve muscle aches, ease stress and fill the air with fascinating scents of Healing Essential Oils... Another Lush Inspired product that I am really enjoying is the "Therapy Massage Bar". Very simple, easy to apply, very convenient for travel, amazing aroma, can be used also as a solid lotion... The main idea of the solid massagelotion bar is to find the right ratio of the ingredients to make it melt at the skin temperature and stay solid at the room temperature. I've made two versions of that Massage Bar. They are anhydrous (contain no water), so we don't need a Preservative. The first one, I am using as a Lotion Bar, was made on the basis of original recipe, plus I had added anti-oxidants: a few drops of Grapfriut Seed Extract and Vitamin E ...
We will continue our Lush Inspired Line with "The Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter": "This little pot looks deceptively innocent – inside is a thick, nourishing butter that moisturizes the hardest areas – elbows, heels, cuticles and nails. You just need a tiny dab (one pot lasts us months) of this rich lemon cream. Rub the Shea butter, cold pressed avocado oil and mango butters in to moisturize and nourish skin. Massage a bit in daily and you won't have to deal with hangnails and cracked skin any longer!"....
There are so many Commercial Massage Oils on the market these days. Nothing wrong with Mineral Based Oils, they have a long shelf life, they can provide a good lubrication, unscented ones are even hypoallergenic. Natural Massage Oil can be absorbed by the skin, it can be allergenic also, especially if it contains Essential Oils... But, Natural Oils have been used in Massage Therapy for thousands of years, from ancient Greece and Egypt to China and India, and they can be really beneficial for the skin. Today I am going to present the recipe of my Homemade Massage Oil Blend. I hope you will find it useful.
Making body scrubs is easy and inexpensive, and you've probably got the ingredients in your kitchen. You can make a spa quality body scrub by choosing the right ingredients, that will keep your skin as soft, smooth and healthy as an expensive salon body scrub..

Alcohol Based Extraction is one of the easiest ways to extract the active alcohol-soluble chemical elements from Herbs. Many Active Ingredients in Herbs are more easily extracted by the blend of Hot/Warm Water and Alcohol, for others the most effective method of extraction is Alcohol alone and high temperature can destroy these active components. Most of the Hot Water-based preparations (Decoctions) have a very short shelf life and we are using Alcohol to prolong storage....
The best way to enjoy the healing power of Herbs is making your own organic skin care ingredients such as Herbal Extracts in Oil and Herbal Extracts in Water/Alcohol. Our Homemade Infused Oil will contain the therapeutic properties of both the Oil and the Herb. Herbal Extract in Oil is a vegetable oil that has been "infused" with the Fat-Soluble elements of the Herbs, while leaves or flowers are soaked in a warm Base Oil (heated to 40-60C) and then storages in a dark place for several weeks under room temperature. Some herbs are most effectively infused in Hot Oil (heated to 60-70C)...

I was asked to explain the Terminology I am using to describe my recipes on Chanty's Forum and decided to post here the description of that terms, hope it will help: Carrier Oils - are used to carry the Essential Oils and other elements onto the skin. Enhancer - Vegetable Oil is providing the best “Carrier” property, which is penetrating the skin quickly. ..
These products use very concentrated ingredients and should be used only for external skin use.
If you have sensitive skin try these mixtures on a small part of your skin.
It is always best to test!!!...

DIY Mineral Makeup

Today I’d like to share with you my experience with “tweaking” Mineral Foundations. I’ve got a lot of Mineral Foundation samples that do not fit well, some I have to adjust color, others texture. So here some “tweaking” techniques I find very useful. They are not only helping me to save money, but also to create custom foundation any time I need...
If your skin is acne prone or sensitive to commercial make up and go "naked" is not your choice, you may want to try making your own Homemade MMU cosmetics. You can decide what ingredients are used and how it’s prepared. There are so many resources on how to make your own MMU products. The best advice would be to look at the ingredients and read-up about them. I thought that I might share my notes on some of them...

I have another exiting review for you guys, and this is gonna be again from EcoTools, their Beautiful Expressions Kabuki Set. I have bought this Kabuki set last February, about a year ago, now I have been using them for a while, so I think I can share my thoughts on them. A little disclaimer: I have to admit: I did not try these brushes for liquid products (I don't use them), so my opinion is based only on my experience with compact or powder products (mineral foundation, bronzer, blusher, highlighter)....
I've heard about this set on YT and wanted to try them out. After reading so many positive reviews I've ordered these brushes online from iherb and lately from eBay . I'm very glad I did because I was very pleased with the quality and price!.. The mini-kabuki brushes both from eBay and iherb look and feel identical. The bristles are a little too long and loose for kabuki, and the handle is a little too small, it isn't very dense either. However I like using it for my Mineral Veil, it applies just the right amount of the product. As a powder foundation brush, this is...
I have been using so many brushes for the past six (seven-eight?) years and right now they are staple pieces I am using daily to apply my make up. I'd made a review on Coastal Scents Brushes a while ago; this was my first buy from them. However, now I'd like to do a new updated one about my entire make up brushes collection... All my CS brushes have a light weight and nice length for application. The Pink Line looks extremely cheap and they chip quickly; the Black-Silver Line looks more professional. Overall rating: they appear to be decent quality for the price. Will I buy more? – I guess no. Why? I will tell you...
Ok, first off, let’s have a look at my EcoTools Brushes: What do you think? The first thing I thought about, when I saw these brushes, was “I want these bamboo handle brushes now.” My mind was not changed, however, after watching a couple of YouTube videos and reading reviews. I looked around where I can buy them and found a lot of EcoTools products on e-bay and iherb. I ended up purchasing quite a few things, including 4 brush sets. All my EcoTools Brushes are cheap, soft, very good quality and eco friendly. So if you are on the search of high quality yet affordable make up brushes, buy them. If you’d like to hear a couple of my thoughts on them, here they are.
I have been a long-time fan of mineral powder foundations and makeup. Like it for the simplest ingredients, ease of application, as well as the look and feel of the products, good coverage without being heavy looking, and most important its long-lasting finish remains through the summertime heat in our humid, hot climate. This is the healthiest and safest option on the market so far...So, this is my current experience with Mineral Make up, not all discovered this year, but definitely used in 2011.

Review - Coastal Scents Eye Shadow Brushes (The Pink Line)

I got these brushes from Coastal Scents about two month ago and I'd like to do a quick review to let you know how I feel about them.

First of all, I have to say - their Handles look really cheap !!! But, for the price...

I like these eyeshadow brushes, they are inexpensive but decent. But I don't really know if I'll order them again... Have you tried these brushes? What are your thoughts?..

....Facial masks are a great way to clean, treat and condition the skin. I am a mask addict.

....I have to admit, that I am not using many commercial facial masks right now as I used to...

....But this one I've really enjoyed, so I am going to make a quick review to let you know .

...what I liked and what I didn't.
